Donaldson---FS 11E04 Tunnel Hill Quad sec 10, 11 Volcanoville Ridge to Rubicon
The old Donaldson trail went down steeply from the Youngquist Mine below the current Donaldson staging area on Volcanoville Road, to the Rubicon River. Approximately 1 ½ miles long this trail is is good unused shape and one of the steepest trails on the Georgetown district.
The newer Donaldson is the trail from the staging area along an abandoned mining ditch that connects to Rubicon Road. Built to give access for horses to Nevada Point trail from the staging area so they don’t have to ride on Volcanoville Road. The trail also is a tie going north to access Kentucky Flat Road to Camp Virner.
