14 miles from Georgetown. Easy/moderate options. MAP
This 1400 acre regional park was formed in 2005 by BLM. and the American River Conservancy by combining public and private lands. The park offers over 12 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails and fronts the American River. Restrooms and picnic tables are provided along the river.
Directions: From G.T. go 9 miles down to Coloma and turn R on Hwy. 49. Drive 6 miles to Pedro Hill Rd. on the left and find the parking lot soon after turning.
The trails criss-cross the entire area and mostly follow old ranch roads that once serviced the area when it was a working cattle ranch. Work is progressing on a hiking trail that goes east to Greenwood Creek where a parking lot gives access to Hwy 49. Some day it is hoped that another trail will connect the park to the Salmon Falls area of Folsom Lake and perhaps provide a link to a continuous trail from Sutter’s mill (Coloma) to Sutter’s Fort in Sacramento. That would be awesome!
