Grouse Falls

Close to the Placer Big Trees and also in the Tahoe National Forest, is the highest waterfall in Placer County, Grouse Falls. It is really big during the springtime when snow is melting in the high country and heading towards this cliff to fall many feet to the rocks below. The water runs all summer but shrinks in splendor as the snow disappears higher up.

Directions: Go 15 miles from Foresthill along Mosquito Ridge Road. Turn Left on Peavine Ridge Road (signed for Grouse Falls) Forest route 33. Follow signs about 4 miles to a trailhead. Half a mile takes you to an observation platform for a view across the canyon to this unique fall of water. Spectacular in the spring!
