Trail Alert: This trail is currently very difficult to access due to the rough nature of Bottle Hill Road. The trail is easy to follow once you find it!

Directions to trailhead: From Auburn, take Hwy 49 south to Cool. Turn left at stoplight onto Hwy 193. At 12.2 miles, turn left onto Church Street in Georgetown (just before Main St. stop sign). At 0.5 mile, bear left onto Mamaluke Rd. Drive 1.5 miles and cross Canyon Creek Bridge after sharp right turn. From here to trailhead, a high clearance vehicle may be needed. Drive 1.9 miles (bear left at junction at 0.2 mile). Trailhead is on the right, signed 13N58H. This trail passes over private property. Stay on the trail and respect private property signs. (Be Alert! Return on the same route on which you traveled to reach the trailhead.)

Elevation: 2445’ to 779’ (1753’ total elevation gain)

Distance: 2.8 miles round trip

Difficulty: Moderately strenuous

Jurisdiction: Auburn State Recreation area near river.

Trail description: Trail follows a shaded ridge to the confluence of M.Fk.Am.R. and delightful New Orleans Creek. Look for old trail blazes of the “candlestick” form, with a long vertical “candle’ slash cut into the bark of a tree, topped by a short ”flame” slash. A beautiful lunch break setting is along New Orleans Creek a short distance before you reach the river.

Camping: Few camping sites near water.
