Trail description: The North Fork American River trail is reached from the Mumford Bar, Beacroft, or the Sailor Flat trail. From the end of the Sailor Flat Trail, the North Fork American River trail leads downstream

7.6 miles to the Mumford Bar trail. In late spring, the trail allows one to view high waterfalls cascading down the canyon walls to the river. Total distance from the trailhead of the Sailor Bar trail and back to the road at the trailhead of Mumford Bar trail is 15.6 miles.

Campsites: There are numerous splendid campsites along the river.
