Otter Creek and Kelliher Loop

Directions to trailhead: From Auburn, take Hwy 49 south to Cool. Turn left at stoplight onto Hwy 193. At 12.3 miles, turn left at stop sign (Main St./Wentworth Springs) in Georgetown. At 3.0 miles turn left onto Breedlove Rd. Drive 2.4 miles (At 0.1 mile, take middle fork). Cross Bottle Hill Rd. and continue straight for 0.3 mile to a “T”. Park well off road. Walk 0.25 mile down the path to the right to a sign “Otter Creek”.

Elevation: 3027’ to 1742’ (5094’ total elevation gain)

Distance: 6.4 miles round trip

Difficulty: Strenuous

Jurisdiction: El Dorado National Forest

Trail description: Refer to Otter Creek (Hike # 28) and Kelliher Trail (Hike # 29) for trail description. After passing the posts set in the trail, continue north 1.0 mile, pass under power lines, and turn left onto road 13N56. Walk 0.5 mile southwest to Kelliher Trail sign on the left. When you reach the next road (Bottle Hill Rd.), turn left and walk to Breedlove Rd. Turn left to reach your starting point in 0.3 mile.

Campsites: There are several adequate campsites near Otter Creek.
